collaborative and regenerative futures
Based in Milan and Grenoble, interrlab enables visionary collaborations across art, science, and technology. Acting as innovation catalysts, we foster post-disciplinary processes that transcend traditional boundaries, bringing diverse fields together to develop bold ideas and transformative prototypes. At the heart of our approach is a sense of urgency to critically reflect on the future of technologies and their integration into society in ethical, inclusive and imaginative ways.
The Collingridge Dilemma
The "Collingridge dilemma" states that, in the early stages, it is difficult to predict how new technologies will be used later on, but it becomes impossible to steer them in a different direction once they have become widespread.
Post-disciplinary collaborations
Incompatible frameworks of thought can stimulate creativity, a process Arthur Koestler called bisociation (1964). When we bring together art and scientific research, we are not simply merging two different approaches to knowledge: we are creating a hybrid territory where boundaries between systems, languages, and methods become less rigid, allowing new forms of insight and imagination to emerge.
Generative innovation
Artists' creativity and activism can support research and laboratories in reflecting on and experimenting with emerging technologies, by developing visionary concepts - imaginative projections of the future that guide exploratory innovation, mobilize ecosystems and challenge dominant paradigms, ultimately contributing to more inclusive, ethical, and sustainable futures.
why interrlab
Addressing complexity and today's challenges, requires a interrelated mindset that transcends knowledge boundaries, creating a neutral space for ideation and, above all, for experimentation, where dialogue becomes essential to foster new 'out-of-the-box' perspectives. We call this space interrlab because it is grounded in the idea of interrelation — between people, skills, resources, and the actors of an ecosystem that must be not only innovative but also inclusive. Our approach serves as a catalyst for visionary ideas and projects, driving progress and pushing boundaries. Our work moves between policy and innovation —scientific, social, or industrial — depending on the context in which we operate.

ethically and sustainably
At interrlab, we foster post-disciplinary collaborations to promote ethical, sustainable and inclusive innovation. We work with institutions, companies, and communities to co-create solutions that are not only forward-thinking but also ethically grounded and socially responsive. Together, we can shape futures that are innovative and just.
